We were exploring near the colourful houses of Balat in Istanbul when I glanced down a small side road that most of the crowd seemed to miss. There was nothing grand about the scene, just a simple composition of a man chopping wood among old houses.

These photographs are moments I’ve noticed, held onto, and cared about enough to print.
